We’ve talked at length about using Trello to track projects and collaborate with team members in previous episodes. Though it might sound basic, Trello’s Label feature is one of my favorite ways to take things to the next level.

Did you know you can leverage labels to help you get the most out of your productivity workflow? Keep reading to find out how.

What are labels? And if you’re unfamiliar with labels, they’re this cool feature that you can add to cards to differentiate between them.

You can add different labels and categorize them based on a wide variety of functions. From describing different types of tasks to signaling whether it’s something you should personally work on or delegate, Labels have infinite functions.

So let’s talk about how helpful shortcuts and tips to make the most of using Trello labels for your productivity.

So to speed things up, you can click on your card and then click on the L key on your keyboard. You can then select the label that you want to add through the different arrows, or you can actually just type in the number of labels. So each label has a number appended to it, and you can just type it in. That’s an effortless shortcut just to add labels.

Now, one of the questions that I get asked all the time here on the channel is how do you make the label show up the actual text on the board, it’s really simple, all you have to do is click on the label, and it will show. If you don’t want to click, just use your keyboard, you can use the semicolon key to hide or show your labels.

This next strategy that I love using with labels enables me to remember that I need to work on the most profit-generating areas or tasks on my board.

It’s a great little strategy if you want to make sure that you’re delegating things that are not really worth your time to other people on your team who can help you so that you can focus on the things that are generating business progress or profit.

How to do it: I will go in and have labels, and I will add individual dollar signs to them to identify whether this task is worth my time and energy on an hourly basis.

If you want to find out what number is associated with each label, you can click here on the Menu and go to More.

From there, you will find a tab that says labels and you can see all the labels that you have available on this board. The good thing is Trello provided us a shortcut list.

And those are the tips and tricks you can do for your Trello labels to enhance your productivity.
